Dr David Solomon AM has a BA (majoring in history and politics), he completed an MA Qualifying in history, obtained an LLB with honours and was awarded a doctorate of letters “after due examination of his published work on Australian Government, politics and constitutional law.” All degrees are from the ANU.

He recently completed a five-year term as Queensland Integrity Commissioner. He was chair of the independent committee that reviewed Queensland’s Freedom of Information legislation in 1997-8, resulting in the passage of the new Right to Information Act. He was chairman of the Queensland Electoral and Administrative Review Commission in 1992-3. His primary career before coming to Queensland in 1992 was as a journalist working in Canberra covering politics and then the law.

He has written 11 books on politics, political history, constitutional law and the High Court and published many articles in these fields. His main research interest at the moment is Queensland since the Fitzgerald report.
