Dr Dolly MacKinnon
Associate Professor Dolly MacKinnon has been successful on an ARC Discovery Project grant, with Dr Megan Cassidy-Welch of Monash University, on the sites of war and memory in England and Scotland between 1250 and 1700. The grant is worth $300,000 over three years (2014-2016).
Project Summary
The project investigates how sites of war are negotiated and remembered. By analysing the battlefields of England and Scotland during the pivotal period 1250-1700, this project will show how places of war became important sites of remembrance and how remembrance of war became central to western national cultures. The project will establish significant advances in our understanding of how sites of violent conflict have become socially and politically meaningful.
