Project Title: The impact of the Korean War on American culture as demonstrated through popular cultural representations

Principal Advisor: Associate Professor Chris Dixon

Project Abstract: The Korean War is an overshadowed and often forgotten part of the United States’ cultural past, and its veterans have suffered a similar fate. Although Americans who fought in Korea have not received the same recognition as those who participated in World War II and the Vietnam War, they played a crucial role in changing the perception of the combatant in American culture. This project aims to fill a gap in cultural history between World War II and the Vietnam War by exploring the impact of Korean War veterans on American culture, as demonstrated through popular textual representations.
